Prayer Focus - Saturday, July 19, 2014

Focus Topic: Safe Travel

Focus Scripture: "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust." - Psalm 91:1

Focus Team Members: Carol Eggert, Georgie Mickel, Brooklyn Rodgers

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for being with our team this week. By the empowerment of Your Holy Spirit, they have ministered to others, giving of themselves so that Your kingdom would grow. May their efforts continue to have an impact on the people in the Lake Coatepeque region. I ask, Lord, that You carry them home safely; that You would watch over them as they travel. Be with Carol, Georgie, and Brooklyn especially - renew their tired bodies; let their souls be full of Your goodness. We love You, Lord and You alone deserve all of the praise for what has happened over this last week. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

We are comforted and encouraged that You are building Your church in El Salvador, just as You are building it here in New Jersey. We ask that You provide every need for Pastor Julio's church - physical, financial and spiritual. Give Pastor Julio wisdom in leading both His family and Your church. Thank You for allowing us to partner with them for this week. Be with Ady, Brian and Pastor Bryon today. Fill them with Your great love, strength, and encouragement. We trust You for all of these things. In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen!

Just A Few Pictures of Today's VBS

Helping People Find and Follow Jesus

Day 5 (Wednesday) in El Salvador: We travelled through the country to several villages and did programs. We prayed for children's salvation and for many physical problems. In the afternoon, we bagged and prepared 200 food bags to given out after the afternoon service. Well over 250 people gathered. Please pray for our team! We are in need of strength as we go through our final day of ministry (today-Thursday)!

Focus Topic: Love for the Lost

Focus Scripture: "For God so loved the world that He gave His One and Only Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

Focus Team Members: Minnie John, Paul John, George Mickel, Kim Mickel

Prayer: Father, Your love for each of us is so great. Help our team remember today that Your love expressed itself through action. You gave...of Yourself, Your best, Your very Son. For each of them in El Salvador - and for each of us today - let us be givers, like our Heavenly Father. May our love for people be real, genuine and expressed in as many different ways as possible this day. Let Minnie, John, George and Kim experience Your love in a way that is meaningful to them. Surround them with a sense of Your love for those who are lost. Thank You, Lord, for giving us such a concrete example of real love - Jesus. We are so grateful! For Your glory we pray, amen!

Prayer Focus - Wednesday, July 16, 2014

Focus Topic: Divine Appointments

Focus Scripture: "We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps." Proverbs 16:9

Focus Team Members: Rachael John, Rebecca John, Allie Mickel, Nikki Mickel

Prayer: God, we come before You today thanking You and praising You for Your sovereign power and Your magnificent love for us. We thank You for each El Salvador mission team member and pray for Your protection to be around them in a very powerful way today. Protect our team today Lord! God, as our team has so faithfully set plans in place for this week, we pray that YOU would guide their steps. Allow each member to interact with people throughout this trip who need exactly what they have - a hug, a smile, an encouraging word of truth. Holy Spirit, prepare the hearts of Your people in El Salvador and allow them to receive everything You have for them. Set divine appointments in place for our team this week. We will give you all the praise and all the glory for all that You do. In Jesus' name,  Amen

A Monday Recap

On Monday, our team spent the day painting Pastor Julio's church. This was a project that was desperately needed so the Kingsway team jumped in and painted both the interior and the exterior of the church.

The team also was able to prepare 200 bags that would be distributed to 200 families from the Lake Coatepeque region (the neighborhoods and communities surrounding the Kings Castle campground). Each bag contains enough rice, beans, oil and cornmeal to feed a family of four for a week. The cost of this food is built into the cost of the trip for each team member, so they have literally helped give food in Jesus' Name.

Finally, the team participated in service for the families who were coming to receive the bags of food. Pastor Bryon spoke while Matt Danker and Ady Iwano shared their testimonies.

Keep praying for our team as God continues to use them to help people in El Salvador find and follow Jesus!

Prayer Focus - Tuesday, July 15, 2014

Focus Topic: Effectiveness in Sharing the Gospel

Focus Scripture: Acts 1:8, 2:37-41

Focus Team Members: Matt Danker, Dawn DiFelice, Nicole DiFelice, Ray DiFelice

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we come before You thanking You for Your Holy Spirit. We pray that just as the Holy Spirit filled the apostles in book of Acts, that He would rest on each of the team members today and throughout this week. As the Holy Spirit empowers our team, let the truth of the Gospel pierce hearts in El Salvador with the same power that we read about in Acts. God, please allow Your love to be poured out on Your people in El Salvador through every interaction. Let every hug minister Your love, every smile shine the truth of Your joy, every act of service be a reminder of what You did on the cross. We pray for hearts to turn to You this week. Let this be a life changing week in the lives of many. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!

Prayer Focus - Monday, July 14, 2014

Focus Topic:  Empowerment and Strength

Focus Scripture:  “Fear not, for I am with you.  Be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Focus Team Members: Ruth Andrade-Thomas, Diana Davis, Lori Dye, Mable Thevaruzathil

Prayer:   Abba Father, You are the source of my strength in all circumstances.  As it says in Your Word, “The joy of the Lord is my strength.”  As we continue throughout this week and perhaps feel our strength weakening, may we draw upon You and sense Your presence upholding us as we continue ministering here in El Salvador, knowing You are by our side and You are able to do all things.  We are joyful simply because of who You are:  a good God, a gracious God, a strong God, and especially a victorious God.  We love You and praise You!  Amen.

Off and Running

After leaving Kingsway in the wee hours of the morning, our team traveled to Newark and onto a direct flight to San Salvador, El Salvador. Greeted by members of the Kings Castle team, we took the two hour bus ride to the Kingsway Castle campground in the beautiful region of Lake Coatepeque.

We were served lunch and then jumped right into training. Our team will be involved in "spectacle evangelism" in the schools and neighborhoods around the lake, so we have to learn the dances and dramas that will create the "spectacle" that draws the crowds.

Saturday night we trekked up to the Prayer Fortress. For those who don't know, there is someone praying at the prayer fortress 24 hours a day, seven days a week - and, it's been that way since 1998. It's a special time of personal and team prayer in preparation for the ministry week ahead.

Today, we attended the "Tent Church" in San Salvador, watched the World Cup at Missionary Don & Terri Triplett's home, shopped at the market and then, headed back to the campground for some swimming. A few of us (see picture below) even jumped off of the high swing - go Adriana!

Tomorrow, we'll be painting in Pastor Julio's church.

Enjoy these glimpses into our activities so far. Keep praying! And, feel free to post comments. We love hearing from home!
