Down & Out in Beverly Hills

Today has been an amazing day. Because of the schedule of the Dream Center, we got our day off at the beginning of our trip, instead of at the end. A little unusual, but unusual is a great way to describe this day.

First, we attended church at Angeles Temple, pastored by Matthew Barnett, founder of the Dream Center. You'll see a picture of all of us in front of the church, taken before services started. I think everyone would agree that we were blessed to worship in an environment similar to ours at Kingsway. Powerful, God-centered worship. Gripping testimonies of Jesus changing lives (including a homeless mother of four who shared about how Angeles Temple helped her get her life back and introduced her to Jesus). Engaging, applicable message from Pastor Barnett. Many in our team went forward for a time of prayer (see picture below).

Second, we trekked to In-and-Out Burger for what I think is an amazing burger. Serious props to Kelly and Mark who are driving our vans for navigating a tiny parking lot.

Third, we took a driving tour of Hollywood - making our way down the Sunset Strip. Then, we drove down Rodeo Drive and beautiful Beverly Hills. As we began to make our way to Santa Monica, we encountered the unusual as our van broke down in Beverly Hills (hence, the title of this post). God was with us as we were able to pull over to the side of the road and the rental company provided a replacement vehicle within an hour. I think the pictures speak for themselves about the fun we had with this little adventure.

Finally, we made it to beautiful Santa Monica Pier. The ocean, sightseeing, good food and a wonderful time of prayer as a team capped off our unusual day. [A little bit more unusual was discovered: Amanda's love of snakes]

Keep praying for us. Tomorrow we check into the Dream Center and begin our week of serving L.A. We couldn't' be here without you!

Love & blessings, Pastor Arlena
