We Need A Whistle for Church

Day 2 of VBS had a smaller number of children (@100 in the morning and 103 in the afternoon) but we did not lack energy or excitement! We started the morning in prayer, asking God to pour out His presence and power on the kids during the day.

The opening program included the dance, Jesus Party, and another opportunity to teach the Memory Verse Song (hint: you may see this one on Sunday). Then, the kids gathered in their teams: red was the 0-4 year olds (plus moms); green was the 5-7 year olds; yellow was the 8-10 year olds; and blue was the 11+ year olds. Each team rotated through one station: memory verse, recreation, crafts, and story time. Then, we closed out the day quizzing the kids on the story and the memory verse; plus, one more run-through of the Memory Verse song. We ended each day with an invitation for the kids to receive Christ and prayed over them for their sickness and any problems.

Oh...and random facts of the day: (1) whistle meant that you had five minutes left with the kids at your station; (2) whistles meant that you needed to take your group to the next station. We decided that whistles would be helpful at church! =) Also, Kim & Rachel went with Pastor Julio to pick up the kids in the morning and learned that 92 Salvadoran fit on a school bus.

We wrapped up the afternoon and immediately went into Pastor Julio's worship service. We worshipped and listened to Pastor Julio preach. As a close to the service, he asked each team member to pray over people to be open to receiving the Holy Spirit. What a sweet time of prayer we enjoyed with this church that has captured our heart.

Tomorrow, we are off to the market and the beach as our day off. We'll be home on Saturday so plan on coming to one of the services on Sunday. You won't want to miss the testimonies that the team will share!

Thanks for praying. We're on the home stretch but still need you to lift us up!

Love you guys and thanks for posting! It means a lot to us!
